Mediarologists Ophira and Tali Edut describe
AstroStyle as "a hobby that spun into a
career." The identical twin sisters shared
a passion for talking to friends about their
horoscopes and storing every celebrity's star
sign they could in their mental databases. When
a friend approached them about writing a column
for Teen People magazine, they thought, "why
not?" Little did they know that this would
soon grow into a thriving brand.
Now,
the self-titled AstroTwins have a Simon & Schuster-published
book under their belts as well as a series of gift
books. In 2004, the University of Michigan Art
School grads put their creativity to work and designed
a full-scale brand called AstroStyle for teens
and tweens. The artwork alone enticed 12 licensees
to come on board, including The Upper Deck Company,
and Disney Mobile who created an online astrology
application in partnership with the twins. AstroStyle
also features everything from school supplies to
fashion items.
The brand has caused a stir with media too. Tali
and Ophira have made numerous television appearances.
They launched their book on MTV's TRL, and gave
predictions on Fox News. They are also regular
guests on Sirius radio an write columns for TeenPeople.com,
Oxygen.com, Sanrio.com to name a few.
Celebrities are also jumping on the astrology
trend. The twins have given readings to some Hollywood
heavy hitters including Beyonce, Jessica Simpson,
Avril Lavigne, Jack Osbourne, No Doubt, The Black
Eyed Peas, Outkast, and Stevie Wonder. |
